Mistreat the Military

Bickford’s back for one more go-around. The Navy does not care about its Marines. That is the story out of Camp Lejeune. Many of the returning Marines have post traumatic stress disorder, but they are not being properly treated. They are in shabby trailers, and they are abused by their superiors for trying to seek medical care. Seriously? This is the most disgraceful thing that I have ever heard from the Navy. We spend more than any other country in the world on our military budget, but we cannot care for these men who have been on multiple tours in other countries. They see their comrades and friends die, and then they come back seeking some kind of respite from the chaos that was war. They do not find it, however. We need to do something about this. It needs to be fixed. Peace. Bickford out.

US takes Control

Bickford’s back and talking. So the United States government has seized a building owned by the nonprofit Alavi Foundation. This seems to come at a time when the United States is still reeling over the Fort Hood shootings. This is how some news networks will see it, but there is a lot of research put into the report filed against the Foundation. It has taken years for all of this hard work to come to fruition. The Avali Foundation is accused of funneling money to Iran to build missiles and fund terrorist networks. I do not know whether or not this is a smart move by the American government. American Muslims will take this very hard, and many Muslim countries in the Middle East will look upon this as a stain if the case goes badly. There may be other motivation behind this move, however. The assests that have been seized come to between $0.5-1.0 billion. Those are just beginning estimates. This may be chump change to the American government these days, but that money is a lot to everyone else. It will take weeks, months, maybe years to sort out this mess and before we see any real progress in this legal battle. Anyway, Bickford, out.

Health Care on the Way

Bickford Shmeckler here with good news. The House of Representatives passed a health care bill. It is a miracle. It passed by only 2 more votes than the majority needed for it to be passed. Up next is a tough fight in the Senate over their version of health care.If the Senate passes a health care bill, then people from both sides try to reconcile the differences of the two bills. Both Congressional houses then vote on it again to pass, and if passed, it takes effect in a few years. This does seem like it will never happen, but it could. You never know. Hell has frozen over before. Another week, another story. I’m out.

Afghan Compromise

Another post by Bickford, another million dollars in the bank. It now appears that President Barack Obama will not choose either of the two plans on the Afghan War strategy. He will, instead, take a lesson from the founding fathers and compromise. It seems that he will take a counterterrorism approach in the north and west with a counterinsurgency plan for the south and east. I am not a General or some top security advisor, but I know that something needs to be done. The President cannot let the situation become stale and forget about it like the American public, so conveniently, has. He needs to take action. I do not know if this is the right action, but it sounds like it will have a major effect on the way that the Taliban operates in the country. We cannot let this War become another Vietnam. Well, another week of posting and I’m out of here.

Bill Gates Hearts Education

Another post by Bickford, another story told. So here goes. Bill Gates has one of the most flexible bank accounts in the world, and he loves education. Bill is teaming up with Obama administration on some new ideas about education reform. Gates is paying for states ($250,000 each) to get some large help from the government. It is all a part of the “Race to the Top” education campaign by the government to find better ways to help children get and stay smart. This has been needed for many years. It is about time that someone started pushing harder for some kind of reform. American people in this day and age do not seem and are not as smart as people from other countries.

How smart are Americans? Look up.

Here we go again with another week of talking, and here we go again with an Israeli-Palestinian conflict. There have been small incidents lately that will lead a very large incident if each side does not proceed cautiously. In the holy city of Jerusalem, Palestinian protesters and Israeli riot police engaged in a dispute at the al-Aqsa mosque. This site is the holiest in all of Judaism because of its history in the Biblical text as the location of two Holy Temples, and it is one of the most revered sites in all of Islam, where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven. With two sides so entrenched in what they believe, it is easy to see why there is a lot of conflict. These two sides should finally put all of this fighting behind them and try to agree to disagree. There has been too much death in the name of religion already. These people need to calm down. It is a man-made site that has no closer relation to God than anyone’s house. We need to push harder for peace in the Middle East, and the first step to doing that is to make a compromise between Israelis and Palestinians. American Nobel-ity

Coming at you once again, this is Bickford Shmeckler with the latest news in the world of politics and other such things. It seems to me that Americans are winning and always have, to some extent at least, a lot of Nobel prizes. Many people do not hear about this or care, but Americans have won almost 3 times as many Nobel prizes as the next leading country. We are dominating right now because of past investments, but the future is not as bright for America as it is for other countries. We are not spending enough in education and science at this moment to maintain our scholarly dominance. We need Congress and the President to stop spending so much money on war and the military and start helping us to further our lives through science and education. If we plan for the future, then we can never be caught off guard when we get there. Well, this has been Bickford Shmeckler with one more week of punditry and knowledge. Obama on Gay Rights

Why hello there. This is Bickford Shmeckler coming at you with some of this week’s news. After many promises for advances on gay rights during the campaign, President Barack Obama is starting to get the ball rolling. He has re-promised to end the “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” policy in the armed forces. Gay rights activists seem edgy, however, when it comes to him coming through on what he promised. There was even a march on the White House from gay people and straight people alike for gay rights. This is what Americans need. All Americans are promised their equal rights under the law, and it is time that we see some progress toward everyone being treated the same. There is nothing bad about gay marriage or gay Americans serving in the military. If those gay Americans out there want to be miserable like married couples or die for their country, then what should stop them except some old laws that prevent true equality in America. Dude, Where’s my Covert Nuclear Facility

Why hello there. This is another post by Bickford and here goes. So Iran has a secret nuclear facility that most likely the CIA and other Intelligence Organizations penetrated. A few things about this are screwed up. Number One: If it is possible to break into this place, it is a liability. Number Two: It is placed near the Holy City of Qom which makes a covert strike improbable due to the religious outbreak that would occur. Number Three: Mahmoud Ahmadin-Whatthehellareyoudoingwithnukes-ejad is crazy. There has not been someone this self-serving and zealous since Hitler. That man did not even win the Presidency, he stole it from Mousavi just so he could finish his nukes and try to put Iran on the world stage as a superpower like the United States. Number Four: Did I mention that he was crazy. Even if I didn’t, it needs to be said again. Well, this has been another week of Bickford’s crazy rants. See you next time.

Yet Another Cool Idea

If you are not used to this by now, my name is Bickford, and I will be bringing you some new political news. Rod Blagojevich appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart the other night, and it reminded just how guilty that man looks. Now, do not get me wrong, I am not saying that he is guilty. I am just saying that he LOOKS so guilty. He says that he is innocent (of course) and that when the truth comes out he will be proven correct. Well, I agree with one of those. The truth will come out………..eventually. I only mentioned the man so that I had the opportunity to put up a picture of the dirty hamster that lives on his head.
